iOS 27 May Replace Core ML With New 'Core AI' Framework


Apple will reportedly introduce a new Core AI framework aimed at developers during its iOS 27 announcement at WWDC 2026. The framework is expected to replace the long‑running Core ML stack that Apple first introduced in 2017, per Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, who says Apple wants a more modern AI layer that supports its Apple Intelligence push and upcoming Siri upgrades across its devices.

Core AI is a modernized framework built for LLMs and generative AI rather than traditional machine learning. Third-party apps can connect more easily to both on-device and cloud-based models. The system chooses where to run tasks based on their performance and privacy requirements.
