Intel Rebrands Core i5-12400 as Core 5 120, With A Slight Clock Speed Bump
extremetech.comIntel has quietly rebranded its older Core i5-12400 and i5-12400F CPUs as Core 5 120 and Core 5 120F. Both chips retain their original six performance cores and no efficiency cores, but they do have hyperthreading (unlike the latest Core Ultra 200 CPUs), meaning they support up to 12 threads. They're based on the slightly newer Raptor Lake architecture and support the LGA 1700 socket. The only noticeable change is a lightly bumped clock speed and a reduced turbo TDP.
Intel's 12th-generation CPUs were pretty impressive when they first debuted. Coming off the hot and unimpressive 11th generation, they brought efficiency cores to the table for the first time and showed a big increase in multi-threading performance. It's quite an old design these days, but it seems Intel found a few extra chips behind the couch as they're making a comeback in Core (not ultra) 5 ...
