Intel Debuts 18A Chips With Panther Lake CPUs for Laptops

The last node in Intel's famed "five nodes in four years" plan is here. On Thursday, Intel officially unveiled the node's first wave of processors, code-named Panther Lake. The company has faced a number of challenges during the past several years and saw a dramatic change in leadership. Now, the brand-new 18A process is at the center of Intel's fortune.

If 18A lives up to Intel's expectations, Panther Lake (and the desktop chips set to follow it) could make a positive difference for the company. As our sibling publication, PCMag, points out, Panther Lake is expected to combine the premium laptop performance of chips like Arrow Lake-H with the power efficiency of chips for ultralight laptops like Lunar Lake.
