Here's Intel's New Firmware Fix For 14th/13th Gen Raptor Lake Instability
hothardware.comAlmost two years ago, people were already complaining of stability problems in Unreal Engine games played on Intel CPUs, but the issue really came to light when huge numbers of customers trying to play Tekken 8 in Korea started returning their Raptor Lake chips in droves. Intel responded by launching a comprehensive investigation and found that the issue was multivariate and pretty complicated. The short version is that Raptor Lake in its original configuration had multiple problems with incorrect voltages, and these have now been fixed.
Or have they? Intel has just issued another microcode update specifically to further reduce the incidence of these problems. Intel refers to the issue as the "13th/14th Gen Vmin Shift Instability" phenomenon, and we thought that the 0x12B microcode, released back in September, finally resolved the problem once and for all. It seems like that may not necessarily have been the case, though ...
