Here’s How the New Galaxy XR Headset Measures Up Against the Apple Vision Pro M5


Tuesday night, Samsung officially introduced its Galaxy XR headset, which runs on the Android XR operating system developed by Samsung, Google, and Qualcomm. The headset uses Qualcomm's Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 processor, 16GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage, while Android XR supports nearly all Android apps, including spatially optimized experiences. The headset is priced at $1,799—roughly half the cost of its primary competitor, the Apple Vision Pro M5.

The Galaxy XR has two Micro-OLED displays, each with a resolution of 3,552 by 3,840: about 27 million pixels in total. This places it slightly above Apple's 23-million-pixel Micro-OLED display. Samsung's device is said to have a 95% DCI-P3 color gamut with support for 60Hz, 72Hz, and 90Hz refresh rates compared to 120Hz in the Apple Vision Pro.
