Google Workspace Gets New Gemini AI Functionalities


Google is rolling out new Gemini functionalities across Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drive. The update makes Gemini feel more like a built-in collaborator in each app, helping users create and understand content.

In Docs, users can prompt Gemini to draft complete documents based on brief instructions and related content from Gmail, Chat, and Drive. They can ask it to write things like project briefs, trip plans, and summaries, and to refine tone, length, or structure via an in-document chat panel. There's also a new "Match the format" control that lets Gemini copy layout and style from an existing file.

Sheets gets new support for turning your natural language into structured spreadsheets. Users can describe what they want to track, and Gemini can set up tables, columns, and starter entries using context from their Workspace data.
