Google Photos Gets More Generative AI Tools Powered by Nano Banana


Google Photos is bringing its Nano Banana image-editing model to Android and iOS users. The update introduces a handful of new generative AI features to the app.

The Photos app's "Help Me Edit" tool enables users to edit photos by providing instructions in plain language. For example, users can type in commands like "Remove Stephen's sunglasses," and Nano Banana will recognize the named person from private face groups and make the change. For the first time, iOS users will also receive the new feature, offering an AI-powered editing option beyond Apple Intelligence.

Google Photos has also introduced a "Create with AI" section, which provides access to template prompts based on commonly used in-app edits. Choices here include putting someone in a high-fashion photoshoot, designing a professional headshot, and placing a person in a winter holiday card.
