Google Exec: We're Combining Android and ChromeOS

Sameer Samat, president of Google’s Android ecosystem, said straight out in an interview that “we’re going to be combining ChromeOS and Android into a single platform.” This is the clearest statement yet from a senior executive about a change rumored for months, as reported by TechRadar.
Reports from late 2024 suggested Google was “migrating ChromeOS over to Android,” with the goal of competing more directly with Apple’s iPadOS. In June 2024, Google announced that ChromeOS would now be “developed on large portions of the Android stack,” The Verge noted.
Chromebooks already let users run many Android apps. And this year, Android itself will gain desktop mode, resizable windows, and better support for external displays.
