Gmail Enters ‘Gemini Era’ With AI Inbox, Smart Summaries, and Free Writing Tools


This Thursday, Google announced new Gemini 3-powered AI features for Gmail. First among them is the AI Overviews tool, which summarizes the highlights from lengthy email threads. Users can also ask Gemini questions about their inbox.

When it comes to composing new emails, three writing tools are now available at varying price tiers:

  • Help Me Write, available to all users, helps users create or improve their emails from prompts.

  • Also free to everyone is Suggested Replies, which offers relevant responses that match the user's writing style.

  • Proofread, available to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, checks grammar, tone, and style before sending.

Google now prioritizes emails based on frequent contacts and relationships inferred from content, which means Gemini is scanning your messages.
