Gamers Reject 8GB GPUs, Are Buying 30x More 16GB Models


Gamers are buying the 16GB variants of the latest graphics cards from AMD and Nvidia in much greater numbers than their 8GB counterparts, despite their lower pricing and better availability. German retailer Mindfactory has released sales figures for a few of its more popular GPUs, and found that the 16GB versions of AMD's RX 9060 XT were selling at up to 30 times those of the 8GB models. In similarly impressive fashion, the 16GB version of the RTX 5060 Ti is around 16 times more popular than the 8GB version, too.

Both AMD and Nvidia received significant pushback when they announced 8GB versions of their entry-level GPUs for the latest generations. Indeed, Nvidia only offers 8GB versions of its RTX 5060 and 5050 GPUs, alongside an 8GB variant of the RTX 5060 Ti.
