Framework Hikes RAM Prices for Third Time, Warns of More Increases

Framework has raised RAM prices for the third time in recent months and has warned customers of additional cost increases for SSDs and even CPUs. The company says these changes stem from supplier price increases driven by surging demand for memory in AI data centers.
The DIY-friendly PC brand says it prices memory as close as possible to its weighted-average purchase cost rather than using steep markups, and it plans to lower prices again if component costs drop. (It said the same in December, when memory price increases appeared imminent.) DDR5 modules in its configurations have climbed into a range of roughly $13 to $18 per gigabyte.
