Dyson's new smart fan heater looks so cosy, I'm almost excited for the cold weather to arrive

Pack away those sandals. Empty your ice cube trays. Summer is over, winter is here. Or, at least, it will be soon. Relatively. Thankfully, Dyson has a new gadget to help take the edge off and keep the chill out.

The Dyson Hot + Cool HF1 is a fan heater that promises quiet, fast, energy-efficient warming, and it sounds like my perfect cold-weather companion. In fact, it'll also earn its keep in the summer, because it can operate as a fan – but in these vaguely chilly early autumn days, it's the heating properties that I'm most interested in.
