CloudWorld 24 - how Moffitt Cancer Center is using AI and Oracle OCI to revolutionize care delivery

Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute is a non-profit cancer treatment and research center located in Tampa, Florida. In April this year, the Center entered into a collaboration with NVIDIA, Oracle and Deloitte on an initiative to revolutionize cancer care delivery using advanced Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning technologies. As per the original announcement:

The first step of the effort involves fine-tuning a Large Language Model using approximately 100,000 in-patient clinical notes from Moffitt in a proof-of-concept tailored to address key operational challenges such as optimizing billing coding processes related to cancer and comorbidity.

The application will leverage Moffitt’s private Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) AI infrastructure, including bare metal compute, and NVIDIA Nemo. Deloitte will work with Moffitt on model training and overall project implementation.
