Chrome Nabs Highest Score Ever On Browser Benchmark Speedometer 3


Google Chrome has reached a new milestone in browser performance by achieving the highest score to date on the Speedometer 3 benchmark. Speedometer 3 is known as an industry-standard benchmark and was created through open collaboration among major browser vendors. It measures how quickly and efficiently browsers handle real-world web tasks. It tests many operations, including parsing HTML, processing JavaScript and JSON, interacting with the Document Object Model (DOM), laying out CSS, and rendering text and pixels.

According to Google, over the past year, Chrome's engineering team has worked to improve the browser's core rendering system. These updates have resulted in a 10% increase in Speedometer 3 scores since August 2024. The improvements include optimized memory layouts across DOM, CSS, layout, and painting components, which help reduce unnecessary memory use, plus improved CPU cache efficiency.
