Apple Simplifies Battery Replacement on the 14-Inch M5 MacBook Pro
extremetech.comApple has made it easier for users to replace the battery on the 14-inch M5 MacBook Pro through its Self Service Repair program. Previously, users were required to remove nearly every internal component to replace a battery, which meant the general public often contacted technicians or experienced users to perform extensive dismantling. Now, thanks to Apple's Self Service Repair Program, the new process only requires removing the bottom case and disconnecting the battery management unit flex cable.
Standalone battery modules are available through Apple's Self Service Repair Store for $209.25 per unit. When customers return the old battery, they get a $22.50 credit, MacRumors reports. The company has also published a detailed repair manual with step-by-step instructions for removing the rear case, discharging the battery, peeling away adhesive strips, and installing the new battery module.
