Apple Introduces a Tinted Alternative to Liquid Glass

Apple has included a new UI customization option in the latest beta versions of iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. Instead of the "clear" Liquid Glass interface introduced with this year's operating system versions, users can opt for a "tinted" Liquid Glass experience for better visibility. The option should roll out with iOS 26.1, iPadOS 26.1, and macOS 26.1, TechCrunch reports.

Liquid Glass is the new design language for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It uses translucent layers and light reflections to create a realistic glass look that adapts to context, wallpaper, and ambient lighting.

Many Apple device users found Liquid Glass too transparent when it first came on the scene. Some found text overlays borderline unreadable, raising concerns about accessibility. Now, with the new clear vs tinted options, users can increase opacity and contrast to make interface elements easier to see.
