Apple Could Be Planning 2 MacBook Pro Upgrades for 2026


Apple is reportedly planning to refresh the MacBook Pro lineup twice in 2026. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman says the first half of the year will see new M5 Pro and M5 Max models, with the M5 base model having already launched in October 2025. Then, a complete redesign later in 2026 will introduce an OLED display and multiple hardware changes to the mix.

The M5 Pro and M5 Max MacBook Pro models are expected to offer improvements over their M4 counterparts, with faster CPU cores, higher GPU performance, and wider memory bandwidth for tasks like video editing and 3D rendering. That announcement could come as early as this month.

By the end of 2026, with the newly designed MacBook Pro, the display will switch from mini-LED to tandem OLED, which uses two stacked OLED layers to achieve brighter output and reduce burn-in risks. The hardware is said to become thinner ...
