Amazon Web Services has announced it will bring a full region to the Israeli city of Tel Aviv.
The new region will feature three Availability Zones, each independent yet connected with metro fiber high-bandwidth, low-latency network connections. Within Israel, AWS already offices in both Tel Aviv and Haifa, an AWS direct connect location and an Amazon CloudFront Edge location. The country is also the home of Amazon hardware subsidiary Annapurna Labs and hosts the "Floor 28" education facility.
In April, AWS, alongside Google, beat out Microsoft, Oracle and IBM to win a billion dollar tender for the Nimbus Project that will provide cloud services to Israeli government organizations out of local data centers. Nimbus will help Israel's government as its services slide over to the digital world.
