WhatsApp Develops AI Features with New Privacy Tech

WhatsApp is advancing its integration of AI-powered features by developing a privacy-first cloud infrastructure called Private Processing. This secure technology is designed to maintain end-to-end encryption while enabling advanced AI functionalities within the messaging app.

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is currently working on a message summarisation feature, aimed at helping users catch up on missed messages. This feature, spotted in WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.25.15.12, will include a “Summarise with Meta AI” button above unread messages. The request will be sent to Meta’s servers, where the summarisation will take place using Private Processing, ensuring that users’ messages remain protected.
